Founded in 1970, ISIM Timisoara is a center of scientific and technical competence in the field of welding and material testing, operating since 1999 as a national research and development institute.

A scientific institution with national and international recognition, ISIM is Romania's representative at the International Welding Institute (IIW), a partner of the Romanian Welding Association (ASR) and the Multidisciplinary Research Association of the Western Zone of Romania (ACM-V).
